My theory of linguistic relativity

Aight people this has already been proven twice to me.

If two people whose native language is not the same and they begin to learn a new common language (say english), they would have an easier time understanding each other rather than a person native to the language or an advanced speaker would understand.

Example: My grandmother speaks broken English, my whole family went to a Japanese market, there was a Japanese guy who spoke as much English as she did and they both understood each other, while my mom and I were standing there scratching our heads.
